Skilled visas

Disclaimer. This page does not constitute migration advice, and is intended for general information only. Formal migration advice should be obtained from a Registered Migration Agent or the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

There are several different Skilled Migration visas. Some are permanent visas, others are provisional (temporary). Some are "offshore" (can only be issued if you are outside Australia), and some are "onshore" (can only be applied for inside Australia). As we are based outside Australia, and do not deal with applicants who are inside Australia, we will deal only with the offshore Skilled Migration visas.
Visas

175 Skilled Independent (permanent)
176 Skilled Sponsored (permanent)
475 Skilled Regional Sponsored (provisional)

Key Requirements  1. You must nominate an occupation for which have qualifications and/or skills which can be recognised by the authorised skill assessing authority for that occupation in Australia;

2. You must be under 45 at the time you apply for the Skilled visa;

3. You must have a minimum level of English

4. You must have worked 12 of the last 24 months in an occupation on the Department of Immigration and Citizenship’s Skilled Occupation List (this could be different from the occupation you nominate for your skill assessment);

There are a number of other issues involved, so answering yes to all of the above does not guarantee that you will qualify for a Skilled visa.
